My latest project is a mobile-friendly "web app" styled with iPhone aesthetics.  The app is for a 12-step recovery house (Lambda Phoenix Center) I do a lot of volunteer work for.  It allows members of the recovery house to use their mobile devices (iPhones, iPod Touches, Palms and Blackberrys) to be automatically redirected to the web app.

The app is not available in the iTunes Store.  Becoming an iPhone developer requires a $99 developer membership, and since this is volunteer work, I decided not to build an app in Objective C.  I've been learning Objective C in one of my classes at the Art Institute of Phoenix. Objective C is a fairly difficult language to master.  Its syntax and overall project structure are completely different than the way you would do things in Actionscript or PHP.

Welcome to my blog.  This site is the next step on my journey as a web designer and developer.  Over this Thanksgiving holiday, I have transitioned this domain from a CodeIgniter/Wordpress site to a Joomla site.  The Wordpress blog still exists, but it will come down as the last step of this transition, and those entries will be transferred over to here.

Where am I in my journey?  Well, I graduate in June.  It's hard to believe it's been 2½ years I've been in school.  At times it's been a sprint, other times a trudge, but it has always been a gift in my life and I am thankful for the experience.  During this time, I've taken on a number of clients, some of them pro bono.  I'm at my capacity for pro bono work, and now I am looking to start building a clientele of paying clients.
